Labor Day Picnic // Youth Group

Roby releasing the huge amount of fish we caught. :) I was too scared, something about holding the fish makes me squirm...putting a worm on the hook is enough, thank you!

Ah... Labor Day was such a wonderful day! ;) It all started in the morning when my dad suggested we go fishing...my mom got in on it too and began to pack a picnic. Meanwhile, Roby had found an old, red battery controlled car and discovered that it still worked! So, Roby drove around on the sidewalk (and at one point on the road! lol! don't worry, there weren't any cars ;) ) and I pushed him up the hills. ;)

My brother and dad are big fishermen, so they packed up their poles and bought worms. Then finally, we got there! "Our" fishing spot was under a big tree, and the roots of the tree worked as stairs, to get down to the water! There was even a picnic table! Talk about perfect! Fishing was awesome! I loved trying to catch the little fish, and the water was so clear that you could see the fish swim up to it! If I remember correctly, I caught 5 fish, and Roby caught a lot more than that. ;) My dad showed us another fishing spot there, and it was directly in the sun. We went back to our first fishing spot, and to cool off, took a swim! It was definitely a Labor Day I will never forget!

Life has been so busy lately. I can't believe it is nearing the end of September!? But, I am ready for some awesome October fun. We have lots of fun things planned, like going on a trip, going to the pumpkin patch, decorating, baking, and going to a fun carnival! Don't worry, I'll be posting about them. :) Also, we are really getting involved with our new church, and are going to small group as a family. I am doing youth group, and IT. IS. SO. FUN! I love the bible study we are doing!

I am also in process of getting a new blog design, so be on the lookout for that. ;) I am reading the classic Little Women, and it is really good, but so   L     O       N      G! I think I might review it when I'm done. I'm going to be working on a fall bedroom decorating post, if I can come up with/find some fun ideas. I really like to mix it up a little, and do a crafty-type post besides the usual "life" post. :)

Have you ever read Little Women?
How do you decorate your bedroom for fall?
Do you ever just jump into the lake, with all your clothes on?

In Paths of Righteousness Book Review & GIVEAWAY!

In Paths of Righteousness by: Keri Aeschliman
From the back of the book...
“It scares me to think what Pa will do when he finds out . . . but we can’t keep it a secret forever.” David Riley is a typical farm boy of the late 1800s, growing up in a Midwest community where religion was a tradition that none dared to challenge. He and his friend Jill set out to explore the “Old Man’s Path,” to uncover the mystery of an old wives’ tale, and it turns into more of an adventure than they bargained for. When they discover long-held secrets in the town of Detweiler, David is determined to find the truth—regardless of the cost.

As he faces opposition in his quest, David also finds a battle waging within. He and his friends struggle to be kind to Henry, a cruel bully, and his mother, a widow bitter toward God. But as David’s hatred for Henry grows, so does the darkness in his own heart. With an emptiness that threatens to consume him, David despairs of ever pleasing God. Prospects of finding peace appear lost until he meets a strange old recluse who offers him both friendship and hope.

David discovers something in common with the mysterious stranger—but what binds them together threatens to tear his family and community apart. Will he have the courage and determination to stand for what is right? Facing rejection in the greatest decision of his life, David must choose which path to follow: a religious tradition to live by or a faith to die for.
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars!
This is seriously one of the best books I've ever read. It has been a huge inspiration in my faith,
and it helped to teach me to trust in the Lord, no matter what. I would 100% recommend this book (stay tuned 'till the end of this post for some awesomeness ;) ). The main character, David grows up in a town called Detweiler, and the people there believe in one thing and one thing only; you have to do good things to get to heaven. David struggles with this, and fears he is not good enough, as
he is having a hard time being kind to a cruel bully and his mother, a widow bitter toward God. No one can even answer his questions, not even Brother Andrew! He feels an emptiness in his heart, fearing he will never be good enough.
He meets a mysterious stranger that God puts in his path that teaches him: there is hope. He begins to listen to the strangers teachings, but what brings them together threaten to tear his family and community apart. He has to make the decision: to follow the religious tradition that everyone in his community follows, or follow the truth that there is no one righteous, not even one, that could tear his family and community apart
And now for the awesome stuff...

wooden crate || cookies

Hello everyone! How is your September going?? I can't believe it...it has been 100 degrees for several days straight. I am sooo ready for cool weather! So far this month has been good for me. Yesterday I went on a bike ride, went thrift shopping (and got some fall clothes, including an ADORABLE jean jacket!!), did some schoolwork, helped my friend's mom bring boxes to her car, went to Dick's (for the future baseball star brother of mine ;) ), went to Michaels, and I read a little bit from the new book I got in the mail. Today I didn't really feel like going outside in the hot and uncomfortable weather, so I stayed inside and read and did other random things. ;) Eventually, I did go outside, to go on a bike ride with my brother. I love the sound of leaves crunching under my bike tires. ;)
I got a wooden crate from Michaels, along with blue paint and a paint brush. My mom had the brilliant idea to hang it up on my wall and use it as a bookshelf for all my favorite books. I painted most of it last night, and put some finishing touches on it today. :) I'll be sure to take some pictures to show to you all soon. ;)
I recently tried lettering and making things out of clay...it is so fun! I made "two peas in a pod", a cheeseburger, a donut, a s' more, and some other stuff. I have also been baking a lot of cookies... pumpkin chocolate chip, anyone?? ;D
