Interview with Olivia

I recently got to swap interviews with the amazing, talented, HILARIOUS author of Life as a Young Lady, Olivia! ;)
Life as a Young Lady

Why did you start blogging? I started blogging in 2013 as a school assignment--I never expected to
get to where I am now!

How did you come up with your blog name? It's a little embarrassing--I really just wanted a title that started with a letter from my name, and since people are always calling me a "young lady", I conjured up "Life as a Young Lady" since it started with the "L" from my name. Deep, I know.

What are your favorite activities? Sleeping, eating, watching two seasons of a show in one sitting, reading occasionally, blogging, and wasting a shocking amount of time on Pinterest.

Who is your inspiration? Aside from Jesus, Who I really need to aspire more to be like, I've always felt like Maya Angelou was a good example of black excellence, especially in writing--which, I've been told, is one of my talents.

What would you prefer--camping or staying in a hotel? Staying in a hotel for sure! I haven't stayed in a hotel in a really long time and I miss it so much. Besides, I'm terrified of bugs and animals so camping *Simon Cowell voice* is a no from me.

Skirts or dresses? I'm not too fond of either but if I had to pick, I'd choose skirts--I can put together more of a causal look with more skirts than with my dresses.

What is one thing most people don't know about you? This is a weird one--brace yourselves--but just today I noticed that when I'm commenting really nice compliments on other people's blogs, I make a duck face. I DON'T KNOW WHY I JUST DO PLS HELP

Favorite book? After the Bible, I'd have to say The Hunger Games. And also every book in A Series of Unfortunate Events (so excited for the TV show adaption coming to Netflix and hoping that I'll be able to watch it)

How do you see yourself in 20 years? Wow...in twenty years I'll be thirty-five years old...that sounds so strange. Well, I hope to have a steady job doing...whatever makes me happy, I guess. And I hope to be keeping up my blog, and my YouTube channel. And I hope to have dyed my hair at least once.

Describe your bedroom. My bedroom is in transition. I had a lot of my little girl stuff in there but I cleared it all out and I'm currently stocking up on posters to hang. Right now, over my bed, I've got a little arrangement of scarves hanging with some shopping bags from stores like Forever 21 and Hollister pinned to the wall. My other walls are pretty bare right now as I really want to paint them, but I suppose I'll have to settle for papering them with posters. Other than that, I've got books and papers stacked in my corners, a dresser covered in empty notebooks, and a bookshelf overflowing with things I need to throw out (old journals and workbooks, etc.)

What is your favorite thing to do in the summertime? SLEEEEP. And also watch Netflix. And when I'm not doing either of those, go to a pool or water park. Or go shopping. Or go to a movie. Or spend the night at my friend's house. Or--oh, wait, you said favorite. As in, one. Oops

reading corner || guinea pigs

This is my reading area! I spend hours a day here. This is probably my favorite spot in my room, other than my bed, where I do all my writing. ;) I ordered the first and second volumes in the Christy Miller series on Amazon with my birthday money, along with other books. I am almost finished with the first book, because I started two days ago. Those books are so amazing! I was reading a different book (pictured below), but when I got my new books in the mail, I just couldn't wait to start them! :)

We are pet-sitting two adorable guinea pigs! The golden-and-white one is just soo photogenic! ;) I love to feed them their fruits, veggies, pellets, and hay in the evening.

We started school last Monday. It went great! I do lots of cool experiments in Science, and I love learning about the Indians in History and Jesus and his disciples in Bible. History is probably my favorite, though.

I watched a video tutorial on making paper beads, and found random materials around the house to make them. I have lots of old magazines laying around the house, so that is very helpful! They are just soo time consuming.. I worked on them for 4 hours one day and only finished about 8 beads! I'd like to make a bracelet out of them. ;)

It is getting to that boring point in summer when everyone is going back to school, the weather is very hot and uncomfortable, and all the summer-type things have already been done. I am not very fond of summer, and I would much rather prefer it to be fall or winter. I can't wait for September!

I have been writing.. a lot. I have come up with a story line for the novella that has yet to be named, and I really enjoy working on it. Hopefully I'll stick with this story till the end this time! :)

I have been thinking a lot lately about having a giveaway...(if I had a giveaway, would you enter?? Please tell me in the comments!) when to do it, what to give away, and what it should be for. I know I almost have 25 followers so I was thinking I could do a 25 followers giveaway. I might give away a book, bracelet, or homemade item. ;)

My 12th Birthday || Schoolwork

Yesterday was my 12th birthday! When I first woke up, I went downstairs and my parents gave me their present, and my brother gave me his present--reeces peanut butter cups! yum! My mom also pulled out Bean Boozled for us to play later that day (did you notice our new school stuff is making a cameo in that picture?? ;) ).

We ate breakfast and drove to D.C. to go to a famous cupcake store; Georgetown Cupcakes. Georgetown Cupcakes has its own T.V. show called D.C. Cupcakes, and that's how I heard about it. I was really surprised when we went in, because it was so tiny! We picked out a dozen to bring home with us, and they were amazing! There was a big window were you could watch them make the cupcakes, and it felt a little weird staring at them and taking pictures of them.
We decided to stop at Burger King to get some lunch then came home.

I spent a few hours reading my Bible and watching Bringing Up Bates.. waiting for my dad to get home from work was so difficult! When he got home, (he brought me some beautiful flowers!) we went to IHOP for dinner and I got two strips of bacon, eggs, toast, two pieces of sausage, and two pancakes! I couldn't finish everything! When our waitress heard it was my birthday, she brought me a bowl of ice cream!

We went to Cold Stone afterwards for some A-MAZ-ING ice cream! Then we went to Michaels, and then the pet store, were I got another fish (post on that later!). We came home and set up the tent for a campout in the back yard! We were going to make s'mores and play bean boozled, but we were way too full for that! :D My birthday was wonderful, and I will remember it forever. :)

---------------------------------------------------------------
I am so excited for school to start! We are planning on starting on Monday, because we already have most of our school books in the mail. The curriculums my mom chose sound like so much fun! I am mostly looking forward to Science and History, because I get to do lots of science experiments, and with History, we will read a book that has to do with each time period and topic we will be learning about. I also really like the photos in the History book. Now that I will be homeschooled, I will have more time to learn more things, like playing the piano, cross-stitch, and crochet!

When is your birthday?
Do you have a subscription to the Kings Blooming Rose Magazine?
Would you recommend it?
What are your feelings on school starting back up?

New York Vacation Part 2

Day 5: We went over to my Nana and Grandpa's house! My cousins, aunts, and uncles came too!
Their dog, Jack, was terrified of the camera. If he notices that you have a camera, he will run away. When he wasn't paying attention, I took a picture...and another picture...and another... ;)

My cousin Gideon! <3

Then, we tie-dyed shirts! We tie-dyed long sleeve shirts so we can wear them in the fall/winter! (I can't believe it's the last month of summer!) I did mine in a striped-rainbow pattern, and I love the way it turned out! :D

Nana and I!
Top (from left to right): me, Grandpa holding Gideon, Nana holding Layla, and Roby
Bottom: Markus and Oliver!
And here's a selfie my mom took! :D
Oliver and I running around in the woods!
Day 6: We went to our friends house!
We swam in their pool and went to the grocery store for chips, dip, Hawaiian bread, and more! Yumm!

Then, we went to Aunt Mary and Uncle Jimmy's house!

We made s'mores on the campfire!

Day 7: We went CAMPING!! We drove to a wonderful town with lots of cabins to stay in.
Our temporary home. ;)
Later that day we went to all the little stores in the town! They were awesome! One thing I loved about them was that the owners brought their dogs into the stores with them, and the dogs would greet you at the door. Even in the movie theatre there were dogs!

We went to a restaurant that my Aunt Marie worked at for dinner, and it was wonderful!

Day 8: My Aunt Marie came over for breakfast, then we set off to go climb a mountain.

There was lots of steep rocks on the way up, and I am proud to say that I never fell, just tripped over my own feet twice. ;)
The view at the top was amazing!

When we got home, we went to a waterpark! We did all the wet rides today and come back tomorrow to go on the dry rides.
Day 9: Today was the day for walking around the park and going on some more rides!
During our walk we found a little petting zoo, so we bought some animal treats and feed the sheep out of our hands. They were very selfish sheep and tried to get all the food for themselves! ;)

Bumper cars! I was driving, with my mom in the passenger seat. What she had to say about it? "This is why you don't give kids a drivers license!"

The Sky Ride was cool...and a little bit scary. There was only a long metal bar in front of us!

And of coarse, we had to go to the circus!

 Even dogs were performing!

We drove back to my grandpa's house and got some ice cream!

Day 10: We had to leave. :( I was really sad for our Vacation to be over, but I was ready to get home and see my dog.

The stuffed hedgehog that I felt I couldn't live without... ;)

Thanks for reading!
